The Peter Strid Process
Peter spent years painting with water colors and occasionally would make attempts with acrylic paint. He admits that stepping into oil painting scared him a bit after what he calls a few “failed attempts”. Now Peter primarily paints with Oils.
Over the years Peter has been more experimental with medium...and painting surface. As seen in many of his popular works, Peter has incorporated news print, graphic novels and other background materials into his pieces too.
People often ask "What is your inspiration?" It's a hard question to answer...but here are some of the things I think about when I'm selecting a subject or engaged in the painting process...I love the beauty of the bottle...and light and richness of glass and liquid make for a stunning visual.
I like to create the unexpected. The blending of Icons and the traditional with pop-culture and material luxury is a fascinating road that I love exploring. Sometimes I hit with something, and sometimes I miss. The important thing to me is that I go beyond expectation and try new things.
For me, my Bottle Art is cathartic...Hopefully it is for my fans as well. My pop and Icon art always keeps my brain spinning for new and interesting blends of the unexpected.
